After acquiring its first site in Leicester in 2006, CityBlock completed its first development in the city, CityBlock 1, in 2009.

Home to 98 students, CityBlock 1 in Leicester brought a level of student accommodation to the city that was previously unseen. Formerly a derelict warehouse which was demolished to make way for the property, the development also included a retail unit.

Following a part-asset sale of the building to Empiric in 2015, CityBlock retained management of the development until June 2017.
